Day 11 – Sunday

12 Jan

I am finding it really hard to do anything but an update post on weekends of this blogging marathon. I need to plan and write some drafts for next weekend to avoid this. Today however you all are going to be subject to reading about our boring day.

The day started at 10 AM, Bandar and we slept really late, maybe close to midnight and woke after ten hours. I felt well rested, though the husbadoo still felt tired. I think its because he wakes around 4 am to work for an hoir or so and then comes back to bed. Anyway, we did some quick skype sessions with both families and then prepped to leave the house to go out.

We took two trains and got to the Indian food hub in Manhattan and decided to eat at Dhaba. The buffet with its Gulab Jamuns had been highly recommended by a friend. So we hogged and hogged. Bandar ordered a Mango Lassi and ate some puri too. The non veg options in the buffet are plenty but the veg isn’t bad at all. If you are looking for Punjabi food in NYC, this is a good safe bet. The Saag Paneer, chole, Punjabi Kadhi, Dahi Bhalla, Pani Puri, Gulab Jamun…all very good. So you can imagine the amount we ate. We had decided to take Bandar to FAO Schwarz, the oldest toyshop in the US.Initially we were planning on a train, but after the heavy lunch we decided to walk 30 streets. We were well protected from the cold weather with our layers and accessories, Bandar agreed to settle down in her stroller for a good nap, I slipped my gloved hand through the husbadoo’s arm as he pushed the stroller and we were off. We enjoyed chatting and I shared those sudden bits and pieces of the India trip that I remembered suddenly and we enjoyed the walk up 5th avenue. I barely felt it was 30 streets, because we were walking on such a lovely, touristy part of the city that we normally hardly go to. So all was good this frosty afternoon.

We spent some time at the store, the husbadoo and I loved so many things and had to stop ourselves buying a whole lot of stuff. We showed much restraint and ended up buying one toddler tool set for Bandar.

Now we are home and playing with it. Dinner is going to be light after the buffet. This is my second Indian buffet of the new year and I really need to stop, before I blow all my health goals for the year.

NYC has left a deep inmpact on me and i think i love it too much even for just some 3 days spent there. Me and the xBF had done the statue, wall street and brooklyn bridge and then gotten to sarvana bhawan. After filling ourselves to the brim(the xBF emptied himself before the meal, like always šŸ˜œ) we were so fullnof energy that we walked to Rockfeller center. We were dead the next day.

Hehe..we actually passed Rockefeller yesterday on our walk. This was about 10 streets further than that.We walked from around the sarvana area too. But of course, we didn’t do the site seeing before. Despite that my legs hurt last night, the nice kind of pain that makes you think you did some exercise and feel slightly guess guilty about the hogging.
